About Global Citizen Kelowna

Global Citizen Kelowna's annual events celebrate the role of Kelowna’s citizens in international humanitarian efforts. Through a series of activities organized by a group of volunteers—including individuals from local businesses, non-profit groups, civic organizations, and public and private schools—we host activities that Entertain, Educate, and Inspire Change (see below).

Our events appeal to people of all age groups, interests, backgrounds, and abilities. Global Citizen Kelowna is also recognized by the United Nations ECOSOC high-level summit. As a result, GCK has been referred to as the UN's Kelowna connection, due to its efforts towards meeting the Millennium Development Goals.

Our Event goals

Entertain

To communicate the role that we share as Global Citizens through the arts: music, photography, film, artisans, and more.

Educate

To bring awareness to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by member nations of the United Nations in 2015. Global Citizen Kelowna celebrates specific goals and what local people/groups are doing to reach those goals.

Inspire Change

To make concerted efforts to respond based on what we have seen and learned. From inaction to individual and collective action, and from disillusionment to hope.

our core values

Inclusivity

We acknowledge that the barriers to universal equality and justice are larger than any demographic, people group, or religion.

Collective Efforts

We recognize that together we accomplish more than we can as individuals.

Global Thinking with Local Action

We understand that change begins in our own communities and spreads throughout the world.
