Global Citizen Kelowna Week

Global Children's Villages

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in the sameroom as a mosquito.”
- African Proverb

This event simulates life in villages from around the world!  Truly a multicultural experience of sight, sound and interaction!   On entry, families find themselves facing the reality of slum living. There is no food, water, no adequate health care or education, no access to fire and ambulance rescue, no trash collection, and little future for the children. Children  then visit various villages  where they participate in an activity which reflects  daily life in those countries.  Each Village will be informative, inspirational and entertaining.  Most importantly this event teaches young children that through their actions and teamwork, they have the power to make the world a better place.

Visitors to the village may play soccer with a ball made of cloth in Ghana, make tortillas in Mexico, create mini-baskets in Zambia, or play games in Cambodia. At every village each child will receive a stamp in their passport, and receive gold coins. At the end of the visit, the children will return to the slum and donate coins to make a less fortunate child’s life richer, by supplying water, clearing garbage, or building a hut. See the changes in real time!
