5- Outstanding! This group went above and beyond in this category!

4- Very Good! This group did a great job in this category!

3- Ok job. This group was fairly strong in this category.

2- More information needed. This group did not put enough thought into this category.

1- Not addressed. This group did not address this category.

 

Understanding of the MDG’s:

Students show an understanding of specific Millennium Development Goals.

  • Understanding of how their proposal will address their chosen MDG.
  • Understanding of how their proposal could also address other MDGs as well.

 

Sustainability:

Students show that their proposal is sustainable in the specific country.

  • Economic sustainability has been considered.
  • Environmental impacts and sustainability have been considered.-Technology used is appropriate for the cultural and economic context.

 

Geographic Awareness:

Students show an understanding about the country they have chosen

  • Physical geography- consideration of climate, terrain and geographical logistics of project in their area.
  • Economic geography- considered infrastructure (or lack of).
  • Political situation- possible volatility of the region.

 

Cultural Sensitivity:

Students show an understanding of the cultural situation of the people involved

  • Demonstrating that the people of the area would be consulted and in support of the idea.
  • Religion and differing belief systems have been taken into account.
  • The local people have been given leadership roles in the project.

 

Budgeting:

Students show an understanding of how make most efficient use of their money:

  • The cost estimates for their project are as accurate as possible.
  • The students have used the $5000 in an efficient way to get the project started.
  • The students have realistic figures of the number of people they can help.
  • The students have created a timeline for the use of the $5000.

 

Presentation Skills:

Students have demonstrated care, thought and pride in the presentation of their proposal.

  • The plan is delivered in a professional, time efficient way.
  • The students have used a variety of multi- media tools to enhance their presentation.
