BACKGCK Announces Theme for 2013 Events
"1.4 BILLION Reasons and Can't Ain't One" is the spin being taken on Social Media for Global Citizen Kelowna.
With an estimated 1.4 Billion people living in extreme poverty in the world the rationale is that there are 1.4 Billion reasons why we all need to think of ourselves as Global Citizens. As Global Citizen Kelowna looks to celebrate organizations and individuals working to alleviate Extreme Poverty (part of the Eight United Nation's Millennium Development Goals) there is no room for negative thinking. "We want to erase the word CAN'T from the vocabulary of people looking to get in some form of international development. We all have a role to play and it will take a concerted effort on ALL our parts to see change happen." says Josh Byron, on behalf of Global Citizen Kelowna.
