Founded by local community leaders in 2003, Global Citizen Kelowna is an annual initiative celebrating the impact Kelowna’s citizens have through being involved with global humanitarian efforts.

Global Citizen Kelowna hosts events which Entertain, Educate, and Inspire Change.

Taste of Home

A Taste of Home is a celebration of ethnic food and entertainment!

Tastes, smells, dance, music – those are things which remind you of home – wherever that home may have been or how different it is from where you are now! Come have a Taste of Home. Small serving sizes at very small prices help you to eat your way around the whole world!! Over 20 different foods – from appy’s to yummy desserts and everything in between. Tickets are $1 and most plates are 3 tickets or less.

Non-stop stage show keeps the festive atmosphere. Something for everyone to enjoy!! Bring your family, friends and neighbours. Special this year – in the foyer – A Living Library! You never know who you may meet!

FREE admission – although donations appreciated!

Ethnic Food and on-stage Cultural performances.

Food Vendors: In 2015 we had 24 different foods representing 19 countries! We plan to have new cultural foods, as well as past ones.

Global Schoolhouse

Global School House local Grade Six students and teachers discover why kids can’t go to school in many areas of the world.

Registration is free but students must be pre-registered to attend this unforgettable experience. Rated “Best field-trip” in survey of participants.

The challenges facing universal primary education are simulated during school days in mid-February. Actors, builders and general helpers for set up and take down of the Global Schoolhouse. Volunteers are also needed to be tour guides for the 1800+ Grade 6 students from SD 23, private & home-schooled students participating in the Global Schoolhouse.

The intention behind these events, involving 500+ volunteers, and 5,000+ audience is to bring together the Kelowna community; encourage social responsibility; and inspire change – by thinking globally and acting locally.

Global Citizen Kelowna events build on the successful events of previous years and continues to expand to include even more entertaining, educational, and inspirational opportunities! We welcome a number of new partners and are especially thankful for the participation of the hundreds of volunteers needed to host Global Citizen Kelowna!
